This project was an Art Test completed within 1 week. I modeled and textured 2 custom assets. A sword and a hot iron sword blank. I used Maya to model both a lowpoly and highpoly model, I then baked the highpoly onto the lowpoly and textured the assets in Substance painter. My goal was to create realistic assets with high detail and texture clarity without compromising in-engine performance. To build out my level, I compiled a list of Fab and quixel assets, mixing them together to build a scene and environment. My goal was to create dark and almost dreary mood, with the light heavily motivated by the fire coming out of the forge. During my search for a character, I was unable to find free blacksmith clothes for a metahuman, so I ended up taking a free clothing asset built for the Epic skeleton and refitted and retargeted the clothing onto the metahuman base as a Metahuman Wardrobe asset that could then be applied to any size/shape metahuman I use in the future. I then applied the clothing to a custom metahuman of my own design. To animate my Metahuman I utilized the Sony Mocopi Pro system to record all my body motion capture. Additionally the Live Link Face app was used to capture and import the facial animation. Mocopi animation was directly imported into Unreal and then retargeted onto the Metahuman skeleton and cleaned in Sequencer.
